Marcus Rashford scored twice as Man utd got their Premier League campaign off to a storming start against Chelsea. The England striker’s brace, coupled with goals from Anthony Martial and substitute Daniel James, saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side run out 4-0 winners. United took the lead from the penalty spot after Kurt Zouma had clumsily fouled Rashford in the area. The England striker stepped up and found the top left-hand corner of the net.
Chelsea were well on top heading into the break and Emerson Palmieri cracked a shot against the angle of post and crossbar with the goalkeeper beaten. However, United scored twice in as many minutes after the interval to pull away. Martial doubled their lead in the 65th minute, turning in a cross from Andreas Pereira from close range. And Rashford scored his second goal of the game shortly after the restart, latching onto a pinpoint ball over the top from Paul Pogba and coolly slotting the ball past Kepa. Debutant James climbed off the bench to add a fourth late on. Chelsea will now hope for a quick response when they face Liverpool in the UEFA super cup on Wednesday.
