The former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo stated that those stopping one way or the other Atiku from challenging President Muhammud Buhari in court are evil.

Atiku, who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost to President Muhammadu Buhari in the March 23 election.
Speaking on the judgement of the Osun governorship tribunal, Obasanjo said Atiku did the right thing by challenging Buhari’s victory.

SHOCKING As Mc Oluomo revealed this ‘We are not thugs, NURTW members are professionals’

He said without a reasonable cause, Buhari went to the court to challenge his loss in three elections, wondering why some people were trying to “stop Atiku from going to court”. On Friday, the tribunal declared Ademola Adeleke of the PDP as winner of the September 2018 election in the state.

In a statement on Saturday, Obasanjo said the nullification of the election, which he described as an illegality, has given renewed confidence in the judiciary. “While I was in Dubai to attend the Global Education and Skills Forum meeting, I received the news of the judgment of the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal declaring Senator Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the winner of the 2018 Governorship election in the state,” Obasanjo said.

“Let me take this opportunity to commend the tribunal for its courage in nullifying what was clearly an illegality. This action by the judicial officers, albeit a first step in the legal process, gives renewed confidence in the judiciary at a time when there are coordinated efforts by some political leaders to undermine, if not destroy, it.

“As I have repeatedly said, the world is watching events in Nigeria with keen interest. What we do or do not do right in our electoral process will have implications not just for Nigeria but for Africa and indeed the world. By correcting what was clearly a desperate attempt to change the will of the Osun people, the tribunal has saved Nigeria from great embarrassment and started the process of saving and strengthening our democracy.

“Let me also commend Sen. Adeleke for his statesmanship in going to court to seek justice. This is the right

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has accused the State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of embarking on a looting spree, ahead of the May 2019, inauguration.

This was made known on Friday, in a press release signed by Sam Onwuemeodo, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okorocha.

The statement reads in full:

“We want to inform the general public and Imo people in particular, that the members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the State, have embarked on systematic and violent looting of properties owned by the State, and brought or installed by Governor Rochas Okorocha. In doing that, they have adopted various unconventional tactics.

“They have removed most of the solar street lights and other beauteous installations in the State capital. They have removed expensive seats kept in public buildings. They have also begun to snatch official cars, especially from the women appointees. And they operate mostly at night.

“They have formed themselves into Property Recovery Committees and Task Forces, and they claim to have been set up and inaugurated by Chief Emeka Ihedioha, who was declared winner of the March 9, 2019, Governorship election in the State.

“And they have continued to accuse the outgoing government of looting. And in doing that, they have not been able to associate any government functionary with any of their false claims or show evidence of their claims.

“We have also been informed that they clashed with one of the Contractors, over some construction materials at the Heroes Square, when they prevented the Contractor from conveying the materials to his site and had tried to move the materials, but the Contractor resisted them.

“The PDP members have not changed and will never change, with their awkward attitude this time. The irony also is that, in doing these absurd things, they do not care how the generality of Imo people feel. This is regrettable.”

I’m Still A Bonafide Member Of APC And I Have No Plan To Dump The Party — Okorocha

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has said pictorial image being circulated on the social media, depicting his discussions with some officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to join the party, is not true.

Okorocha has been placed on suspension by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In his reaction, at the weekend, Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Sam Onwuemeodo, urged the public to disregard such picture, accusing his political detractors as being behind such postings, clarifying that the picture in question was taken long ago.

The governor believed the declaration of PDP candidate as the governor- elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was wrongly done.

The statement said:

“This photograph is as old as the APC government in 2015. But those who were declared winner of the governorship election in lmo with votes from the three local councils of Mbaise have been making fruitless efforts to blackmail Governor Rochas Okorocha to see if that could help them go free with their electoral fraud. They posted this picture on social media with badly written statement and falsely claiming that the governor was in a PDP meeting today. ”

Okorocha said he was optimistic that any stolen mandate would be retrieved at the appropriate time.

What Will Happen To Nigeria – Saraki Raises Alarm

President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Friday, said that Nigeria was sitting on a time bomb if it doesn’t create jobs.

Saraki, who made the assertion while delivering a goodwill message at the Body of Benchers Nigeria Award Night in Abuja, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanni Onogu, added that the judiciary was also key to ensuring sustainable economic development of the country.

He stated that there must be a concerted drive towards consolidation of democracy, liberalization of the economy, and ensuring the rule of law.

Saraki said: “No two ways around this. In the next few decades, the population of Nigeria and the continent – including the youth demographic – is set to increase exponentially.

“The challenge ahead is to see how we can reduce poverty and create jobs for the youth whose numbers will treble in the coming years.

“They are not a generation that will sit idly by and watch their aspirations fade. Without inclusive government that creates jobs and opportunities, we are sitting on a time-bomb.

“We must act fast, and the Judiciary has an important role to play in ensuring sustainable economic success that is predicated upon a more democratic environment.

“The job creation stimulus we are seeking requires investment, and this depends on democratic stability. It follows, therefore, that the types of government that emerge must be through a democratic process that builds on the confidence of the people.

“Our ability to produce effective solutions has never been more in demand. From the threats and opportunities of information development, sharing, management, manipulations aided by technology to the changing dynamics of terrorism, we must remake a judicial process that is integrity assured and delivers in good time.

“This requires the legislature and the judiciary to engage more and share ideas, more than is currently the case. We must have a society where truth and justice are seen to prevail, where men and women will believe that the system will always stand by the truth.

“Politicians and business people must know that power and money cannot trump truth and justice and that the law bends for no one. It must be clear that the corruption of money will always lose out.

“Benchers are key to instilling that confidence. Inconsistency will only create problems further down the line. Fear of man cannot be the driving imperative of what we do.

“It must be the Constitution. In any case, history has shown us that power is transient. Posterity is the goal,” he stated.

Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) worked against the ruling party in the 2019 general election.

The APC won the presidential election, secured over 25 seats than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Senate, won over 100 seats than PDP in the house of reps and emerged victorious in governorship and state assembly elections.

However, Oshiomhole claimed that INEC conducted the elections in a manner that put the ruling party at a disadvantage was grossly biased against the APC in the just concluded general elections. He spoke in an interview with Maupe Ogun-Yusuf on Channels Television’s Hard Copy.

“I have huge reservations about the way INEC conducted this election. INEC bias against APC is so clear.

INEC was biased even in the way it dealt with our primaries, INEC was biased in the way in which it selectively used the card readers or the non-use of card readers in some states where it suits them” he said.

He said there were several instances on paper where INEC contradicted itself as to the way the elections were conducted. Laying emphasis on the non-use of card readers in some areas, Oshiomhole claimed that in some states were the APC clearly won, the electoral umpire used the non-use of card readers to rig the party out.

Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State on Friday declared that he never regarded the defeated governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic party, Prof. Kolapo Olusola-Eleka as an enemy.

Rather, he said the major opposition party was free to challenge his victory at any stage of the court and make useful suggestions for the smooth running of his government.

Fayemi, however, said Eleka and the PDP were free to challenge his victory at the Supreme Court, in spite of his readiness to entertain contributions from the main opposition party.

Fayemi also told newsmen that his decision to examine the records of

The governor spoke in Ado Ekiti on Friday at a programme tagged Meet Your Governor.

Fayemi stated that he had never perceived Eleka as an arch enemy in spite of the petition he filed against his victory in the July 14, 2018 poll.

I have never seen Prof Olusola Eleka as an enemy, but I have been seeing him as a co-contestant, so we wont shy from approaching him to seek his advice on any issue we feel he could be of help for smooth running of our government.

But this should not be misinterpreted to mean that we are trying to prevent him from seeking justice up to the supreme court; he is free to challenge us.

The Appeal Court, on Thursday delivered its judgment, declaring that PDP has no evidence of rigging against us, so we are not afraid of being challenged.

On the just concluded presidential, National and state assembly elections, which APC won wholesomely in the state, Fayemi denied the allegation that federal might and money were deployed to muzzle the opposition in the polls

If you look at the outcome of the results, there was no local government where opposition did not score at least 30 percent in all the 16 local government areas

So, the conduct had been adjudged free, fair and the outcome was credible going by what INEC said, he said.
